Tractering the days away.

10.03.2015

For the last two days I've been tractering intensely.  I spent twelve hours over the last two days.  Just maneuvering the bucket was a challenge at first, now I can pull out full buckets fast enough to get comments from the other ants.  Feeling like a fish out of water had become normal for me and now I feel like a have a useful skill that I will get even better at.

I have heard mention of the philosopher Seneca in three different books.  At the third mention I though I have to find out more about him. It didn't take long to download an audiobook of his work off librivox.  Hopefully this will be my first great step into what can be called a "liberal education."

I gave my grandparents a call.  I wall really good to know that they thought of me and when I told them what I was doing they told me they were proud of me.  I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it.  It means a lot to hear that form a member of my family tell me that.  I've been having some doubts that now I fell the rightness of what I'm going here.  God willing I'd carry this feeling with me into the future.

09.20-24.2015

09.20-24.2015

Its been a busy couple of days.  I traveled to Missula on Monday, which i found out is also known as "Zoo Town."  I visited the book exchange and got a set of used books to help pass the nights.  Then we did some scavenging and found some cool things.  Kai and I got some Russian olive tree seeds that we pick on the side of the highway.  Together Kai and I explored the fruit of the city of Missula and it was a good day.

My next two days were just reading and planting seeds all over my property.  Today I spent the day chopping wood for the innervater's  event in October.  I got maybe a quarter of a cord of wood chopped for rocket mass heaters.

Good news! I have a digital camera on the way and it should be on the 26th.  So more pictures soon.

09.18.2015-09.19.2015 Bike Frost

09.18.2015  Today I did some bounty work.  I remounted the helostat and but a mesh screen around the vent in the office rocket mass heater.  Not a lot of work all in all but it was gratifying to finish a project or two.  I got up to the lab late and started making bread.  It was late and I decided to see how the bread would do with a slow over night rise.

09.19.2015   It was cold when I woke up today.  Cold enough that there is frost on my bike.  So the ride down was very cold, I couldn't feel my hand while riding.  Still didn't make it in time to get a ride into town.  That made me more then a little nettled.  But then I watched "greening the desert" the video that inspired me to study permaculture.  I felt a lot better.  Then remembered an old sermon that always inspires me: God is the Gardener by Hugh B. Brown.  It hasn't been easy here by any stretch of the imagination, I often find myself cold or hungry.  Then I remember that all this hardship will be for my benefit.

Today is the day I excavate the rest of my house hole.  Evan has thus far been an excellent operator and i fully expect to be working on the north berm wall by the end of the day.  And also baking my bread exparent.  Wish me luck all.
